Star Apartments a Safe Haven for Chronically Homeless

October 1, 2013
The Skid Row Housing Project, which aids the chronically homeless in downtown Los Angeles, has partnered with acclaimed architect Michael Maltzan and Guerdon Enterprises for their latest groundbreaking structure, the Star Apartments.

The modern, geometric design will provide 102 apartments, each about 350 square feet, recreation facilities (basketball court and track), and on‐site social services. Designed with a community‐minded open design, Star Apartments will help LA’s chronically homeless get back on their feet in a more timely manner.

Prefabrication the 51 modular units in its factory in Boise, ID, Guerdon provided a full range of services for Star Apartments, including: engineering, construction, transportation, site management, and installation.

The project is due to open in Fall 2013.
