Marriott’s First Three Modular Hotels Produced by Guerdon

In the last 30 days, Guerdon has opened Marriott’s 1st hotel to be built using modular technology, crane set the 2nd & is currently crane setting the 3rd.

Dec. 12, 2016 – In 2015, Marriott issued a challenge for the modular industry’s top manufacturers to make their technology available to Marriott’s owners and franchisees. Marriott rigorously evaluated manufacturers and selected Guerdon as one of only three commercial prefab companies to work with globally.

Thirteen months after the challenge, Guerdon’s team crane set the first Marriott hotel built using modular technology. The hotel is a 3 story, 97 room Fairfield Inn & Suites in Folsom California.

Thanks in large part to the success of this first project and Marriott’s innovative initiative, modular hotels built by Guerdon continue to be in high demand. The second modular Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, was crane set mid-November on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The 4 story, 114 room hotel opens Spring 2017.

Right on the heels of the Courtyard installation, the AC Hotel by Marriott in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is currently being crane set. This 5 story, 142 room hotel is the perfect case study for modular construction as the site is on the same plot of land as a conventionally built Hyatt Place hotel. While the Hyatt Place had a slight head start in construction, the modular AC Hotel is estimated to open months sooner.
