San Diego-based Kalthia Group Hotels spearheaded Hilton’s first modular hotel in San Jose to be built using Guerdon’s modular technology.

The 144-room Hampton Inn and Suites will have a ground level podium, mixing traditional construction methods with modular techniques. The first floor, including 8 guest rooms, will be site built while the 136 rooms located on the 2nd through 5th floors will all made up of modular units.

Located on San Jose’s North First Street, not far from San Jose Mineta International Airport, Kalthia chose to use modular construction to get their hotel to market fast and under budget. Production of the 90 modules took place in Guerdon’s Boise, Idaho facility.

Kalthia is an owner, operator and developer with 15 properties in its portfolio. Though this is their first modular project, Kalthia, a forward thinking early adopter of Guerdon’s modular technology, already has plans to use the technology to build a Holiday Inn Express, on the same parcel.

The hotel adds to Guerdon’s large portfolio of successfully completed projects in the Bay Area, including the Domain Apartments, Union Flats, Second Street Studios and Marriott’s first ever modular hotel, a Fairfield Inn & Suites.
