Prototypes

To ensure that the installation, assembly, and completion of the building run smoothly when your building is ready for on-site construction, we practice prototyping with every major modular project. After identifying a portion of the building that best represents the overall project, we build those modular units in advance of the production run and assemble the prototype at our “prototype pad” at the factory as it would be assembled on the actual project site. This allows us to make any necessary changes or adjustments to the construction before completion.

Prototyping is an ideal process for any major construction project – beyond the obvious benefit of catching adjustments before they become issues, there are a number of other ways prototyping allows us to ensure a higher quality construction upon completion:

  • Test MEP systems, on-site connection processes, and provide training for on-site MEP subcontractors prior to the start of the on-site installation
  • Opportunity for STC testing, if required
  • Check weatherproofing methods on exterior face of the building
  • Install and verify sample on-site roof trusses, where applicable
  • Check stair and shaft alignment between levels
  • Verify weights of units for crane purposes
  • Check space allotted in shaft(s) for on-site utilities, stairs, elevators, etc.
