NewcrestImage to Partner with Guerdon Modular Buildings in Construction of New AC Hotel in Oklahoma City

Boise, Idaho and Dallas May 17, 2016 – NewcrestImage, a privately-owned hotel development, construction, and management firm, has announced a partnership with Guerdon Modular Buildings, a leading manufacturer of large-scale, complex modular construction projects, to use modular technology to build a 142-room AC Hotel in Oklahoma City. This partnership represents the first NewcrestImage project – and the first Oklahoma City hotel – to be built using modular construction processes.

Located at 411 E. Sheridan Ave. in Oklahoma City, AC Hotel Bricktown is strategically located next to the 13,000-seat Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and within a few blocks of the Cox Convention Center. The project, along with an adjacent 134-room Hyatt Place hotel project that NewcrestImage is also developing, continues the revival of the Bricktown neighborhood. AC Hotel Bricktown is slated to open to the public in June 2017. NewcrestImage will be the owner and operator of the completed hotel.

“Many of the challenges that face hotel construction – finding skilled labor, maintaining quality, speed-to-market, risk mitigation – are addressed by modular construction technology,” explains Mehul Patel, Chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage.  “For this first project our team has been excited to work with Guerdon to harness the quick build cycle of the modular process, so that we can quickly provide Oklahoma City with AC Hotels’ stylish, European-inspired accommodations.”

The first floor of the five story hotel will be built using traditional construction. The following four floors will be built from 81 modules built by Guerdon Modular Buildings. As part of the modular construction process, production of the modules will begin in June 2016 at Guerdon’s manufacturing facility based in Boise, Idaho. Each module will be transported to Oklahoma City using flatbed trucks, and will be craned in over the course of four days in October 2016. All rooms and finishes will be exactly to AC Hotel specifications upon delivery, indistinguishable from any other of the Marriott brand’s other hotels.

“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to work with NewcrestImage to apply our construction process to the landmark AC Hotel Bricktown project,” said Lad Dawson, CEO of Guerdon Modular Buildings. “Our goal has been to integrate closely with NewcrestImage in order to make every aspect of the construction process flawless and worry-free – everything from the design and build to mapping out the delivery and installation process. That allows Mehul and his team focus on what they do best, managing successful hotel construction projects to completion.”

ADG, Inc. served as architect of record, and Duncan Miller Ullmann served as designer on the AC Hotel Bricktown project.
